Abstract:
Five papers are included in this monograph. The first one “Complexity and Reform of Public Administration: the Case of Portugal” applies the complexity theory to the reform of public administration. The next two papers (“Survey on the Status of the Hospital Information Systems in Portugal” and “Hospital Information Systems Integration Leadership Strategy for a Portuguese Central and University Hospital”) are devoted to the development and use of information systems in Portuguese hospitals: existing situation, development and integration into management strategies. The fourth paper (“DESIS: Educating Healthcare Information Systems Professionals to deal with Hospital Complexity”) describes the new course offered by INA on information systems for health organizations (DESIS) and the last one describes an attempt to use telemedicine in paediatric cardiology and the importance of people’s behaviour in the successful development of telemedicine, with promising results.
